Voting rights

Once again the legislature in Texas will look at requiring ID before being allowed to vote. Once again we will hear the cacophony of voices wailing at the prospect of someone being disenfranchised because possessing a picture ID must be tantamount to imposing a Poll TAX.

Unspoken, because most do not have the spine to point out the obvious, is NOT having a photo ID requirement makes it easier to hijack the process. One only need to look north where AL FRANKEN may become the senator from Minnesota. THAT election reportedly has precincts where more votes were cast, than they have registered voters! Others have more recorded votes than people who showed up at the polls!

Let's reframe the discussion. Photo ID in this day and time is fairly easy to procure. ( Just need to keep ACORN from being able to issue ID's). How about the novel approach that we PROTECT the rights of the voters who are honest and do it right. After all a voter who plays by the rules and winds up with representation as a result of a questionable election is disenfranchised far more than one who can't manage to get a photo ID........

Follow the Swiss

The Swiss have been recognized for years as some of the most savvy bankers in the world. Now word from Credit Suisse reinforces that reputation. At a time when US companies like AIG are preparing to hand out millions, if not billions in bonus money, Credit Suisse has decided bonus awards for bankers will be in the form of packaged securities made up of sub par mortgages. Now the people that profited from selling the junk will own the junk and Credit Suisse writes it off the books. Maybe some other firms in the US can take notes?
